What will you do?

The Salesforce IT Product Owner is responsible for defining the product vision and managing the Product Backlog and actively shapes the structural integrity of the North America Salesforce ecosystem. In this role you will be involved in collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize development tasks based on business value, and work closely with engineers to deliver high-quality software in iterative cycles. You will bridge the gap between high-level sales strategy and scalable technical design at Johnson Controls.

How you will do it:

  • Backlog Management:Own, refine, and prioritize the product backlog to ensure the team is always working on the most impactful features.

  • Technical Backlog Management: Translate complex business requirements into detailed user stories with technical acceptance criteria that guide developers away from "over-engineering".

  • Stakeholder Liaison:Act as the primary point of contact for the North America Salesforce IT team to align priorities and manage expectations with the North America commercial business.

  • User Stories & Requirements:Translate high-level business goals into detailed user stories and clearacceptance criteriafor the development team.

  • Release Planning:Partner with business Product Ownerto define the roadmap and oversee the release of new functionalities to ensure they meet quality standards.

  • Value Optimization:Continuously evaluate progress and analyze performance metrics to ensure the product remains competitive and achieves its ROI targets.

  • Solution Architecture: Design long term scalable solutions to prevent technical debt.

  • Roadmap Ownership: Define a strategic roadmap that prioritizes high-ROI features while proactively addressing technical debt and platform upgrades.

  • Platform Governance: Maintain the structural health of the org, including monitoring governor limits, API usage, and security configurations.

  • Collaboration: Partner with Technical Architects and engineers to validate Proof of Concepts (POCs) for emerging technologies like Einstein AI or Data Cloud.

What we look for:

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Experience:8 +years of experience inAgile product managementor as a technical business analyst/technical architect.

  • Technical Depth: 5+ years of experience with Salesforce Sales Cloud

  • Technical Acumen:Deep understanding of theSoftware Development Life Cycle (SDLC)and familiarity with tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, or Trello.

  • Soft Skills:Exceptional communication, analytical thinking, and the ability to say "No" to low-value stakeholder requests while maintaining professional relationships.

  • Architecture Background: Proven ability to design enterprise-level implementations and manage complex integrations using middleware or APIs.

  • Agile Leadership: Experience leading Scrum ceremonies and managing backlogs in tools like Jira or Azure DevOps.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Certifications:Certified Scrum Product Owner orSAFe Product Owner/Product Manager AND Salesforce certifications such as Sales Cloud Consultant or Application/System Architect.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $112,000 -$168,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
