At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

The Project Engineer II for the 9 Engine Aft Module serves as the technical lead for buy-part material readiness, employing engineering knowledge and project management skills to ensure hardware availability. This role maintains end-to-end planning and procurement signal flow for critical components, eliminating false demand, aligning MRP with P6 forecasts, and enabling on-time manufacturing and launch readiness. The position bridges engineering and supply chain disciplines to provide technical oversight, data-driven decision making, and systematic risk management for this mission-critical vehicle subsystem.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply technical understanding to validate MRP demand signals, resolving eBOM-mBOM mismatches and ensuring alignment with engineering requirements and build strategy.
  • Drive technical resolution of procurement requests, ensuring details are accurate and complete while minimizing PR aging and driving timely PO deliveries.
  • Engineer appropriate lead times and buffers by analyzing technical complexities of components and aligning PO due dates with P6 forecast need dates.
  • Provide technical leadership within the 9 Engine Aft Module IPT, identifying critical component risks and mitigation strategies
  • Develop and implement data engineering solutions using AI/Databricks tools to enhance visibility into technical material readiness
  • Coordinate across Engineering, Planning, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing organizations to resolve technical issues affecting material flow, maintain clean and consistent data.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, engineering judgment, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is essential!

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field
  • Understanding of engineering change management and configuration control processes
  • Working knowledge of MRP systems and technical procurement specifications
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and aerospace materials/processes requirements
  • Experience with project scheduling tools and technical timeline management
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to synthesize technical data into actionable insights
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts across functional teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and technical data analysis tools

Preferred Experience:

  • 3+ years of engineering project experience in aerospace or complex manufacturing environments
  • Experience managing technical aspects of procurement for complex aerospace systems or assemblies
  • Track record of applying engineering principles to supply chain and material readiness challenges
  • Experience with ERP systems and technical data management platforms
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards, manufacturing processes, and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated skill in technical risk assessment and mitigation planning
  • Experience applying data analytics (e.g., SQL, Databricks, BI tools) to improve engineering and procurement processes
