Job Summary:



Mercury Systems has a new opportunity for a Director of Finance for our Data and Sensor Systems line of business. The successful candidate will be someone who wants to make an impact by implementing process improvements and providing additional insights in our matrixed and collaborative environment.



The Business Unit Finance Director leads the finance team to ensure that all facets of the P&L are forecasted and achieved, including revenue, product costs, operating expenses, cash, and inventory. The position will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, analysis, reporting, modelling, and developing processes and tools to support the business. This role will serve as a business partner for the business unit CFO and staff and have significant interaction across the facility and intercompany sites, as well as work with corporate finance and accounting. Experience in the defense and aerospace industries is a major focus of this role within the business unit.



Job Responsibilities:



  • Manages FP&A for a facility with different product profiles
  • Leading financial management, including forecasting, planning, estimate-at-complete (EAC) maintenance, program control, and ad hoc analyses and reporting.
  • Directs planning and analysis activities in order to identify risks and opportunities and to contribute to the achievement of the organization's long-term financial goals
  • Reviews and approves recommendations for financial planning and control, providing relevant fiscal information to the executive management team
  • Advises senior leaders by providing detailed analysis and reporting metrics on economic, business, and financial developments
  • Partners with sales, pricing, and operations management to reduce inefficiencies, control investments, and expand margins
  • Participate and perform analysis and due diligence for M&A activities
  • Maintain monthly, quarterly, yearly, and multi-year forecasts and budgets
  • Extensive ad hoc and standard weekly/monthly reporting
  • Responsible for proper documentation of financial standing for audit and regulatory purposes
  • Be an integral part of the revenue forecasting process to support production planning
  • Evaluate and assess the impact of current processes and bring in thought leadership for change and innovation for financial optimization
  • Incorporate Earned Value Management methodology in the support of Program Financial analysis to support performance measurement and EAC/ETC analysis



Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree with typically 8-10+ years of related finance experience
  • Experience mentoring and developing staff
  • Experience in the defense and aerospace industries is highly desirable
  • Extensive systems knowledge in a development/manufacturing environment required (Oracle/ProPricer preferred)
  • Experience using Cobra Cost Management System
  • Review basis-of-estimate labor and material costing for Firm-Fixed Price (FFP)/Cost-Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF)/Time-and-Material (T&M) proposals; incorporate contractual changes into control systems and demonstrate awareness of work scope
  • Preparing and managing monthly business forecasts; revenue, margin, and cash forecast, ensuring Percentage of Completion actuals and forecasts on contracts are incorporated into weekly/monthly/quarterly reviews; Risk and Opps
  • Work closely with Program Managers and Engineering, and Program Finance leads to maintain accurate EACs to support reporting synchronized with enterprise and program business rhythms and requirements.
  • Collaborative, proactive, good problem solver, results-oriented, high energy; demonstrates urgency, fast pace, and ability to multitask
  • Strong PC skills and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Excel.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD secret clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Earned Value Management (EVM) experience and customer reporting
  • An active clearance would be preferred, or the ability to obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills, and the ability to effectively interface with and advise senior management and staff
  • Self-Motivated, able to lead, and perform tasks without constant oversight


Locations:


This position is hybrid. Candidate must live within a commutable distance to any of the following West Coast locations, including:



  • Torrance, CA
  • Cypress, CA


Travel: 5-20%

Pay Grade Range
Fulltime Equivalent Job Grade Salary Range for this position
* $138,900.00 - $250,000.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in FL, GA, IN, AZ, AL, MD or TX, and all remote employees
* $155,600.00 - $280,000.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in VA, CA, NH or MA
* $163,900.00 - $295,000.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in NJ
