Title:International Admissions Coordinator Division: Provost's Office Department: School of Graduate Studies FLSA Status:Exempt Salary Range:Annual Salary EEO Job Group:2 E2 Position Summary The International Admissions Coordinator is responsible for the admission of international undergraduate and graduate students, Intensive English Program students, and sponsored international students. He/she will plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate processes and policy for international admissions, including internal processing and communication sequences. Partners with Center for International Programs leadership to strengthen recruitment strategies targeted at recruiting diverse student populations from diverse backgrounds as appropriate. This position reports to the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies. Duties/Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the international admissions processes (undergraduate and graduate students, Intensive English Program, and sponsored students).
- Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate processes and policy for international admissions, including foreign credential evaluation, internal processing, and communication plans.
- Participate in strategic international enrollment planning, monitor data and prepare analysis and projections to inform the plan and ongoing strategies.
- Manages foreign credentials evaluation for all international applicants including training staff to evaluate credentials, maintain resources on world education systems, monitor changes impacting student mobility, and keeping up to date with best practices in the field.
- Manage the international admissions email account.
- Supervise graduate assistant, managing all international admissions social media accounts.
- Collaborate with appropriate personnel in the School of Graduate Studies and the Center for International Programs and Services to develop and coordinate web site to ensure consistent look and content.
- Participate in strategic international enrollment plan in collaboration with Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Center for International Programs staff.
- Monitor data on inquiries/prospects/applicants/admits and prepare analysis and projections to inform the plan and ongoing strategies.
- Advise prospects and applicants/admitted students, families, representatives for international students.
- Create and send targeted communication to prospective students through the CRM system to ensure compliance with university admissions requirements.
- Create and send targeted communication to international stakeholders including high school counselors, agency representatives, EducationUSA advisors, sponsors, etc. in collaboration with School of Graduate Studies and Center for International Programs.
- Assist in design/production of marketing materials targeting international students and families in various regions of the world.
- Conduct periodic benchmarking to guide policy decisions.
- Develop and strengthen recruitment strategies, targeting diverse student populations internationally, as well as domestic students living abroad. Attend international recruitment events and coordinate outreach initiatives for prospects, applicants, high school counselors, agency representatives, EducationUSA Advisors, etc.
- Participate in staff meetings and various other University committees as appropriate.
- Assist in the training of international recruitment representatives (such as hired agencies).
- Partners with School of Graduate Studies and Center for International Programs leadership to strengthen recruitment strategies targeted at recruiting diverse student populations as appropriate.
- Periodically serve as a USI representative at recruitment fairs, workshops, embassy visits, etc., in collaboration with other USI staff and/or international representatives.
- Establish and regularly monitor measurable goals and objectives to ensure that prospective students receive timely and exemplary service during the admissions process.
- Serve as liaison between faculty, administrators, and prospective students.
- Manage student workers and graduate assistant as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor's degree with two or more years of experience in international admissions, including internal processing of evaluated international credentials and/or evaluation of international credentials required. May consider master's level coursework in lieu of experience. May consider significant related admissions experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work with complex procedures and processes related to international students and scholars.
- Demonstrated ability to work as effective team member.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including cross-cultural communication competencies.
- Familiarity with international cultures.
- Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple demands in a setting of high student contact and interaction required; demonstrated skills in problem solving.
- Demonstrated ability to work in, update, and design workflows in various systems (CRM) used for recruitment and communications preferred.
- Familiarity with immigration regulations pertaining to F and J visas, including SEVIS reporting requirements and knowledge of Department of Homeland Security regulations.
- Proficiency in using computers, including CRMs, word processing, spreadsheet, email and internet resources.
- Proven commitment to international perspectives and a strong career interest in the field of international education.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- The Association for International Credential Evaluation Professionals (TAICEP) affiliation.
- Proficiency in a secondary language.
- Master's degree with one year of experience in international admissions and foreign credential evaluation preferred.
Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements
- Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Irregular or extended hours, including evenings and weekends, may be necessary to complete departmental deadlines or during special programs and events.
- Occasional local, regional and/or international travel. Overnight travel may be required.
