| Primary Purpose of Position |
The primary purpose of this position is to support and enhance student learning by implementing educational opportunities that develop civic engagement competency through high impact service-learning, leadership development, community involvement. In addition, this position is responsible for building collaborative community partnerships with nonprofits, community-based organizations, businesses, and government agencies to support student learning. |
| Job Description |
This position will direct and manage the programs, activities and events of Leadership, Learning and Community. The position is responsible for establishing a vision and strategic outcomes related to UNCP's opportunities for community engagement, civic development, co-curricular service, leadership development, and academic service-learning; developing and facilitating curriculum to promote service and engagement while cultivating mutually beneficial partnerships with community based agencies and organizations; and providing supervision to professional staff and students.
The Director will be responsible for general oversight of the planning, implementing and assessing of programs, events, and various service initiatives, and provide direction for campus-wide service and leadership programs that promote collaboration between the academic and student affairs divisions; developing, planning and assessing programs, workshops and seminars that promote educational and awareness on leadership development, civic responsibility, citizenship and civic engagement; identifying and implementing best practices that cooperatively engage students, faculty and community in collaborative high impact practices that support student learning and development; educating and advising institutional departments, faculty and staff on programs and activities that promote the University's commitment to service and leadership development; and collaborating with institutional support services to advance leadership and civic engagement programs and campus/community partnerships.
This person will develop and monitor departmental budgets, including state funds, student fees, grants and gifts, and seek opportunities to advance resources through donations and grants; develop and disseminate monthly and annual reports and assessments of department programs; and prepare performance evaluations of staff.
