Research Assistant

The Research Assistant will work as a member of the research team supporting Dr. K. Parekh's Cardiothoracic research program through the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Assistant will perform cutting-edge translational research in a ferret lung transplantation model. This research program specializes in studies of stem cell physiology in the context of chronic lung allograft dysfunction and other lung diseases and aims to utilize regenerative medicine approaches to treat pulmonary diseases. Responsibilities include: support for research by conducting experiments, investigations or evaluations; collect and analyze data and perform operational duties associated with the laboratory; and other research related actions and duties. The qualified candidate will have previous experience in scientific research as well as experience with animal handling and experience with surgeries is desirable.
