Position Summary:
This role will be supporting the bioinformatics data collection and analysis for an NIH Grant and BCH laboratory research performed in the Manis Laboratory as part of the Dept of Laboratory Medicine. The work performed by this position will guide researchers, support manuscript and grant writing, and provide relevant data, statistics, and analyses to further grow and support the research conducted in the Transfusion Medicine Service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Works closely with PI in the selection of bioinformatics method and the collection of experimental data. Plays a critical role in bioinformatics research projects, managing and advising researchers on specification and conduct of bioinformatics analysis.
  • Identifies and develops data analysis reports and presentations needed for managing the data analysis and monitor progress of projects.
  • Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures, utilizing standard laboratory equipment, recording and checking results for completeness and accuracy.
  • Contributes to preparation of manuscripts including writing of bioinformatics methods and design, relevant results and data tables and graphs, and justifications of selections of specific bioinformatics approaches and data analysis pipelines.
  • Collaborates and consults with investigators and researchers on design, collection, and analysis of biomedical research data.
  • May provide education and consultation to investigators, research residents and fellows, faculty and key research study staff in the lab and collaborators on basic and advanced design and analyses issues.
  • May lead and manage the work of bioinformatics analysis requiring assistance from the PIs and researcher involved in relevant projects. Collaborates with bioinformatics programmers and master's level bioinformaticians on experimental design and methods for analyses.
  • Provides positive and effective bioinformatics advice to lab and outside collaborators on joint projects. Contributes to teamwork within and between departments, divisions, programs and other organizations.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
Experience:
  • Two years of experience, including experience in bioinformatics consulting and analysis, assistance with protocol generation and grant writing, and collaboration in scientific writing is required.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
