Posting Summary
Rutgers University-Camden is seeking an Editorial and Production Assistant (Unit Administrator/Specialist Casual). The Editorial and Production Assistant works under the supervision of the Program Coordinator of the Mid Atlantic Regional Center for the Humanities ( MARCH) to assist with editing and production of the Encyclopedia of Greater Philadelphia.
This position is temporary and will pay a minimum of $20.00 per hour.
The incumbent will assist with the following tasks:
1. Assist with new and incoming essay assignments by:

  • Marking up accepted essays for fact-checking
  • Conducting fact-checking process when necessary
  • Find and obtain images
  • Research and write captions for gallery images


2. Assist with final production process by:

  • Building pages
  • Communicating with authors regarding publication
  • Assist in training Research / Digital Publishing Assistant(s) on page-building process

3. Other administrative duties as needed, such as:

  • Maintaining files for Encyclopedia of Greater Philadelphia in Dropbox and Box
  • Maintaining Backgrounders
  • Checking broken links
  • Occasional copy-editing of already-published essays for style

4. Fact-checking corrections submitted to the Encyclopedia's inbox

Salary Details This position is expected to pay a minimum hourly salary of $20 per hour.

Bachelor's Degree in History or related field, Masters preferred.
Ability to conduct historical research and write clearly and effectively
Excellent communication skills
Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Suite and Wordpress
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to sit for long periods of time.
