In this role you will report to our California Ride-hailing Operations Market Lead.

You will:



  • Drive the end-to-end enablement, configuration, and technology deployment for new and existing operational infrastructure. This decisive leadership ensures immediate and forecasted market demands are met with maximum scalability and resilience.
  • Diagnose and streamline complex depot workflows (vehicle intake, charging flow, maintenance routing) and identify areas for tooling and automation investment.
  • Establish, enforce, and continuously update safety standards and procedures (EHS, policy, regulatory) across all facilities based on evolving market trends. Act as a market escalation point for site-specific safety problems.
  • manage and optimize daily operations, fostering a high-performance culture emphasizing collaboration and accountability, while overseeing depot operations (vendor performance) to ensure strict adherence to all safety, compliance, and regulatory protocols.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships across the company and with vendors, ensuring alignment with organizational standards, goals, and a shared commitment to success.
  • Serve as a trusted leader with a continuous improvement mindset, consistently monitoring and enhancing processes, systems, and performance metrics to drive operational excellence, strengthen stakeholder alignment, and deliver measurable, sustainable results, all while boosting efficiency, productivity, and reducing costs.
  • Manage departmental budgets, identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives, and monitoring key performance indicators to effectively allocate resources and ensure all operational initiatives align with financial parameters and organizational goals.



You have:



  • 10+ years of experience in operations management, preferably managing daily operations in a fast-paced environment in fleet management, transportation, or logistics, with a deep understanding of safety.
  • Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to motivate & lead teams, develop and execute strategies, and drive performance improvement.
  • Data-Driven Performance Management: Proficiency in defining, tracking, and acting on operational KPIs (e.g., depot throughput, charger utilization rates, autonomous parking success rates) using advanced analytics tools to drive efficiency and meet service targets.
  • Business Continuity Planning: Experience developing and executing comprehensive BCPs and disaster recovery strategies to ensure operational resilience and minimize downtime due to power outages, civil unrest, or system failures.
  • Bachelor's degree, or in lieu of a degree, an additional 6+ years of work experience in a combination of program management, business operations, strategy consulting, planning, or equivalent fields.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills showcasing an ability to influence people to contribute to continuous improvement of operations.
  • Ability to deal with multiple conflicting priorities and stakeholder issues while driving towards pragmatic decisions/actions.



We prefer:



  • Direct experience in the ride-hailing or broader transportation industry is a significant plus.
  • Deep expertise in managing specialized industrial infrastructure, including High-Capacity EV Charging Networks and critical power systems. Candidates must understand how the physical infrastructure directly impacts autonomous fleet operations, ensuring power delivery meets forecasted fleet scale.
  • A background in general operations management, vendor management in addition to the minimum requirements, would be beneficial.
  • A demonstrated history of identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • The ability to provide clear, strategic leadership and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.



Travel requirements:



  • Candidate must be able to travel within the San Francisco Bay Area when necessary, with an expectation of 1-2 trips per month to markets outside of the area.

The expected base salary range for this full-time position is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo's discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
