Job Title: DHTS APPLICATION ANALYST

Occupational Summary:
The Application Analyst couples knowledge of business practices/operations with knowledge of information systems to implement, maintain and support Duke IT applications. Provides consultation and assistance to users of radiology imaging information systems to include analyzing user requirements, testing applications, application problem resolution, training users, writing user documentation and resolving user problems.
Essential tasks/responsibilities:
LEVEL 1:
Function as an interface between the radiology clients and the health information systems division
Provides day-to day systems support, including troubleshooting and the configuration and testing of software.
Provide application troubleshooting support to other members of the Image Management Team as necessary.
Provide 24 x 7 on-call coverage for user support on a rotating basis.
Maintain best practices in providing services for customers.
Accurately record all work efforts in Service Now.
Travel throughout all facilities within DUHS to assist with Radiology Imaging Information Systems as needed.
Administer, validate, and review user and system accounts, access controls, audit logs and system integrity to maximize system security and data confidentiality.
Interprets and analyzes systems, data, and information with supervision as needed.
Participates in planning and providing customer training sessions on system use or revisions.
Assists in making oral and written presentations to project teams and management.
Assists with tasks and portions of larger information system projects with direction.
Participates in updating system, operational and department documentation.
Recommends areas for process improvement.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
LEVEL 2:
In addition to the duties described for the Level 1, the Level 2 will:
Coordinate application upgrades.
Coordinate and lead troubleshooting and problem resolution efforts relating to system infrastructure, security, network problems, PACS related equipment, and system functions and integration.
Write test plans and coordinate user and internal testing; resolve and re-test identified errors and problems.
Lead integration application testing.
Develop project plans and coordinate activities to track the completion and status of tasks associated with a given project.
Assist with workflow redesign with Imaging Services.
Participate in the implementation of, execution of, and periodically update System Security, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery Plans to be consistent with Duke Medicine policies and standards regarding security and HIPAA compliance.
Participate in the implementation of, maintenance of, upgrading, and patching of systems to be compliant with Duke Medicine security policies and standards regarding protection from external and internal security attacks.
Research and remediate generic and system-specific vulnerabilities.
Identifies internal resources to build project team performance.
Analyzes, modifies, designs and researches information systems and processes as requested.
Assists in the evaluation and revision of existing information systems.
Ensures security of technology solutions following established DHTS-ISO policies and procedures.
Makes oral and written presentations to project teams, management, and other departments.
Coordinates and operationalizes simple to complex projects with direction.
Initiates, writes and evaluates system, operational and department documentation.
Identifies areas for procedural improvements.
LEVEL 3:
In addition to the duties described for the Level 2, the Level 3 will:
Implement, execute, and periodically update System Security, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery Plans to be consistent with Duke Medicine policies and standards regarding security and HIPAA compliance.
Implement, maintain, upgrade, and patch systems to be compliant with Duke Medicine security policies and standards regarding protection from external and internal security attacks.
Research and remediate generic and system-specific vulnerabilities. Proposes/Assists with vulnerability processes.
Analyze the information technology operational needs for client groups and provide guidance and training to improve workflow processes.
May function as a technical leader, either as a subject matter expert with proficiency in defined area(s) of the profession, or as a generalist, with a broad knowledge of all aspects of the profession.
May function as a team leader, responsible for supporting management in day-to-day personnel oversight and workflow management activities.
May conduct continuing education sessions and new employee training.
Leads discovery sessions that document requirements and workflows, and proposes build to address customer needs.
Has a leadership role in the evaluation and revision of existing information systems.
Coordinates and operationalizes complex projects.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training: Bachelor's degree in a related clinical or technical field, or four years of equivalent technical experience required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Level 1:
If applicable, maintenance of North Carolina licensure or certification in related clinical discipline is required for all levels.
Level 2:
In addition to the requirements described for the Level 1, the Level 2 requires: Certification in an area of application support of a technical or support nature preferred. CIIP certification preferred.
Level 3:
In addition to the requirements described for the Level 2, the Level 3 requires: Certification in an area of application support of a technical or support nature strongly preferred. CIIP certification preferred.

Experience: Level 1 - One year experience desired beyond the minimum education (or equivalency) requirement.
Level 2 - Two years of related experience is required.
Level 3 - Four years of related experience is required.

Skills: Level 1: Project management skills, excellent analytical, verbal and written skills, positive outlook. Strong computer skills; including the latest Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft Office suite of products.
Level 2: In addition to the requirements described for the Level 1: Experience with design, implementation and support of Windows operating systems. Experience with supporting applications in virtualization strategies across multiple technologies/platforms. Experience managing an enterprise system in a demanding environment. Knowledge of: PACS, imaging modalities, Visage Radiology Viewer, advanced imaging/3D applications, cloud-based image sharing applications, DICOM image routing, vendor-neutral Archive and EPIC experience.
Level 3: In addition to the requirements described for the Level 2, the Level 3 requires: Advanced technical consultation and support experience. Major project management experience. Implementation of complex information systems. Previous leadership role.
