The Senior IT Business Analyst is responsible for bridging the gap between IT and business units to ensure successful project delivery and alignment with business goals. This role involves gathering and analyzing business requirements, translating them into functional specifications, and ensuring that these are effectively communicated to IT teams to meet business needs. Responsibilities include conducting detailed business analysis, facilitating stakeholder meetings, and maintaining comprehensive documentation. The Senior IT Business Analyst will also play a key role in testing and implementing new technology solutions, as well as contributing to process improvement initiatives to enhance business operations. This role reports to the Vice President of Information Technology.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's degree in education, business, information systems, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in business analysis, with exposure to higher education environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with strong critical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, effective at engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Skilled in project management tools and methodologies, with a solid understanding of project management principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to create clear documentation, business cases, and process flows.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Business Analysis certification (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA) is advantageous.
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting tools, with the ability to extract actionable insights.
  • Skilled in process modeling using tools such as Visio and Lucidchart, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience supporting academic operations team is strongly preferred and considered a plus.
  • Occasional travel to university campuses or partner sites may be required.


Compensation is determined based on the qualifications, experience, and circumstances of each hire. It is uncommon for new employees to start near the top of the salary range. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a tuition waiver and reimbursement program, health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan. The salary range for this position is $94,500 to $127,900.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Act as a liaison between the IT department and functional business units, ensuring clear communication and understanding of business needs and technical solutions.
  • Conduct detailed business analysis to identify business needs and develop solutions for business problems.
  • Lead the gathering, analysis, and detailed documentation of complex business requirements and functional specifications from academic leadership, faculty, and administrative staff.
  • Conduct gap analysis of current "as-is" processes versus desired "to-be" processes across functional areas.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of academic system configurations, policies, business requirements, processes, and workflows.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications and ensure alignment with business goals, understanding strategic business needs and plans for growth.
  • Coordinate and execute quality assurance (QA) and user acceptance testing (UAT), and play a key role in the testing and roll-out of new software or technology solutions, ensuring all system changes meet business requirements, compliance standards, and are implemented successfully.
  • Collaborate with project managers and IT teams to perform feasibility analysis, scope projects, prioritize deliverables, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders across the organization.
  • Advise senior academic and IT leaders on prioritizing future application development and system roadmaps based on strategic institutional goals and academic outcomes.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide updates on project progress.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive reports and presentations to executive leadership and other stakeholders, ensuring clarity and actionable insights on project work.
  • Continuously monitor and research the latest industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend innovative solutions.
    Depending on the project, travel to Herzing University campuses and locations may be needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

      • Must be able to remain in a stationary position most of the time.

      • Frequently uses voice and hearing to communicate with students, staff or colleagues face-to-face or over the telephone.
      • Visually or otherwise identify, observe and assess.
      • Occasionally move, carry, or lift 10 pounds.
