Overview

As a regional Cultural Resources Practice Lead with Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will work collaboratively with staff to navigate today's complex regulatory landscape. In working with state historical preservation offices (SHPOs), you will assist our commercial, institutional, and energy sector clients in their efforts to achieve and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local cultural resources regulations. You will work with a group of energetic cultural resources professionals and will manage and lead projects located throughout the US. Working with clients, contractors, and local government officials, you will impact the whole project and represent CEC as a cultural resources expert. Working closely with Corporate Cultural Resources Practice Lead and staff, you will take on a lead role in building the Cultural Resources Practice in the Pittsburgh region, and you will be a key contributor to the growth of CEC's cultural resources services nationwide.

CEC's corporate Cultural Resources Practice is seeking talent to continue to grow and manage clients, projects, and staff needed in support of our clients' endeavors. CEC's Cultural Resources Practice distinguishes itself from the service offerings of other firms because of the breadth of our technical expertise that, in addition to archaeological and architectural history studies, includes: geoarchaeology, bioarchaeology/human osteology, and Tribal engagement. The Cultural Resources Practice works cooperatively across all CEC offices to bring the necessary expertise to our clients' specific project needs.

CEC has two Pittsburgh area offices (Moon Township and Monroeville). Candidates for this position can select their preferred Pittsburgh area office location.



Qualifications

    Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, History, Architectural History, Preservation Planning, or a related technical field
  • 10+ years of experience as a professional cultural resources practitioner
  • Expert-level proficiency in application of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and knowledge of varying federal NHPA implementation protocols
  • The desire and ability to develop and market to new and existing clients
  • Demonstrated client development and client management skills to assist in the growth of our service offerings
  • Ability to provide technical expertise and mentoring to staff in the Cultural Resources Practice
  • Ability to manage multiple activities, technical professionals and a targeted client base
  • Experienced in scope of service and budget (proposal) development and review, and demonstrated ability to manage projects profitably
  • Excellent communication skills (speaking and writing), including experience directing staff and coordinating with clients, contractors, and government regulatory officials

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of various permitting requirements under the National Environment Policy Act; and
  • Experience consulting and/or engaging with federally recognized Tribes/Tribal Nations.
