PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $94,500.00-$115,500.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $73,400.00 - $136,600.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU'LL MAKE:

As a Sr Due Diligence Investigator, you'll play a critical role in protecting BECU and its members by leading efforts to identify, assess, and mitigate financial crime risks. You'll be the go-to expert for high-risk member reviews, applying your deep knowledge of BSA/AML/CFT regulations to conduct holistic Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) investigations. Your work will directly influence the strength and integrity of our due diligence program, and you'll help shape improvements that support regulatory compliance and operational excellence. From day one, you'll be trusted to take on high-impact tasks and contribute to cleanup and enhancement projects that move the program forward.

To join our dynamic team in this role, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, SC or GA. If you're located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance to our Tukwila Headquarters (TFC), we encourage you come into the office on Tuesdays & Wednesdays each week.For those candidates that live outside the commutable distance to TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be primarily remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead High-Risk Member Reviews: Conduct thorough initial and ongoing due diligence investigations for high-risk members, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Mitigate Financial Crime Risk: Detect and assess suspicious activity, recommend monitoring controls, and support de-risking strategies to protect the credit union.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert: Provide guidance on high-risk industries, typologies, and member behavior to internal teams and external partners.
  • Coach and Mentor: Support the development of Due Diligence Investigators by sharing expertise and offering coaching on investigative best practices.
  • Prepare Detailed Case Reports: Document findings and make recommendations to managers and risk officers regarding high-risk member activity.
  • Drive Program Enhancements: Lead or contribute to special projects that improve the due diligence program and ensure alignment with evolving regulations.
  • Advise Business Units: Offer guidance on USA Patriot Act, CIP, CDD, and EDD compliance responsibilities across departments.
  • Audit Emerging Risks: Monitor new business types and industry trends, providing recommendations to mitigate potential threats.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with teams across the organization to implement controls and ensure consistent compliance practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work/educational experience
  • Typically requires minimum 7 years of experience in BSA/AML/CFT, bank audit, compliance, or banking operations
  • At least 3 years of experience in financial crimes investigations
  • CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or ACFCS certification (Association of Certified Financial Crime Specialists), or active pursuit of certification

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Solid knowledge of BSA/AML, CIP, Beneficial Ownership, CDD, and EDD requirements
  • Experience with regulatory reporting and best practices
  • Strong organizational, analytical, investigative, and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively
  • Problem-solving skills with a broad perspective
  • Interviewing and negotiation skills preferred
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets and word processing
  • Flexibility to work full-time hours and additional hours as needed
