Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

This paragraph summarizes the general nature, level and purpose of the job.

The Plumber is required to install, inspect, maintain and repair all piping systems and allied equipment, fittings, valves, etc., (except refrigerant systems), in all hospital buildings and facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patient rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

* Assists in major and minor utility shut-downs, requested by facilities project, outside vendors or contractors and in house shops.

* Does plumbing and steam fitting, alterations and repairs on hot and cold water, sewer, steam process and heating, gas air pressure, vacuum and oxygen systems, chilled water systems, etc.

* Installs new piping for sterilizers, laundry, and other Hospital equipment and puts in piping installations in accordance with national and local code requirements.

* Installs, checks, maintains and repairs piping systems, checks and maintains faucets, pipes, bowls, sinks, valves, traps, etc., of water systems. Performs repairs to steam systems, checking and maintaining radiators, traps, regulators, controls, valves and other specialties.

* Maintains existing fire sprinkler systems for all the buildings assigned to facilities E&M.

* Make sketches of proposed changes for purpose of making or correcting working drawing for future references. Reads and interprets plumbing blueprints.

* May perform pipe covering and other allied covering as required. Repairs leaks in all pipes (except refrigeration), toilets, and sinks.

* Opens and cleans out stopped and clogged fixtures, traps, drains and pipes with flexible wires, eels, plungers, pressure tools.

* Replaces, repairs and maintains such items as washers, valves, faucets, liquid and bar soap dispensers, laboratory equipment, O.R. equipment, laundry equipment, boiler equipment, etc.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

License/Certification: None

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $57.73 to $65.45
