Role Summary

Diagnostic Engineering works throughout the service, software and engineering communities to ensure our customers have the best experience possible with their vehicle.

Collaborate and maintain an operational partnership with Software, Service Engineering, Field Diagnostics, Service Center Managers, Reliability, Engineering, Reman teams, and others to successfully execute the best customer experience as well as ensuring continued growth of Rivian.

Engage and drive accountability and actions especially with regards to service impacts on future programs. Deep engagement and understanding of the future roadmap and how Diagnostic Engineering can help shape the future vehicle ownership and serviceability. Ensure current vehicle programs are engaging Diagnostic Engineering on current software launches, trending issues, vehicle diagnostic challenges, vehicle controls software and other software/engineering/field issues.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with related stakeholders across Rivian Service to align on project(s) goals, prioritization, roadmaps, and track progress from concept to launch/grow/optimize each project.

  • Coordinate implementation of Diagnostic Engineering requirements

  • Work with Engineering teams and Field Service to develop metrics and dashboards to track progress using platforms like JIRA, Lucid, and Databrick.

  • Manage multiple Jira projects to create accountability and triangulation of work product across field diagnostics, software, and diagnostics engineering

  • Review current processes to identify and document bottlenecks or roadblocks to improve diagnostic time for our Technicians.

  • Hold cross functional teams accountable for development on diagnostic priorities

  • Ensure the field accurately captures challenges and requirements into the DE team as well as the software organization

  • Help manage and define the direction of service diagnostic tools and data

  • Role requires high levels of initiative, independent judgement and indirect leadership capability

  • Responsible for Diagnostic Engineering deliverables status at program checkpoints and executive reviews

  • Create, own, drive real time data sources to hold teams accountable for navigating rapid changes

  • Establish best practices and standards of work for Diagnostic Engineering.

  • Develop Service workstreams and tasks to support the vehicle development process

  • Identify, define, promote emerging product and service issues to appropriate channels and into a closed loop system for problem resolution

  • Support Dealer Field Action bulletins (safety, compliance, emission, customer satisfaction, service update)


Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in Automotive, with a focus on collaboration with software development

  • Technical understanding of vehicle systems and development

  • Proficient in Jira, Lucid, Databricks, other data management tools

  • Strong leadership capability.

  • Strong collaborator, with a willingness to drive change.

  • Strong program management and timeline/task execution (able to drive to critical path)

  • Experience leading teams with a proven track record in an automotive or high-tech environment.

  • Broad experience defining, launching, and driving strategic process redesign initiatives to improve internal and external processes and operations, working closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders in a technology environment.

  • Ability to define critical aspects of schedule and determine critical path.

  • Ability to lead through influence, not necessarily reporting structure.

  • Ability to evaluate and adjust priorities as urgent issues arise.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • BA or BS in a related discipline preferred.


Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $149k - $187k (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
