Position Summary

Maintains and provides software and hardware support to insure the proper operation and maintenance of school district computers and networks and provides technical support to all school district staff, while maintaining high levels of confidentiality.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides remote and onsite technical software Support included but not limited to laptops, desktops, printers, and software applications.
  • Troubleshoot software issues, research, apply and test solutions.
  • Provides remote and onsite technical hardware support. Support included but not limited to laptops, desktops, and printers.
  • Maintain district devices by providing basic hardware repair including hard drive, screen, and keyboard replacement in addition to other hardware issues that may arise.
  • Coordinate district warranty work with the appropriate companies.
  • Work with families and students to coordinate repairs on student devices.
  • Visit buildings as needed to repair hardware in buildings.
  • Maintains and supports all district A/V technology including security cameras, SMARTBoards, DVD/VCR players, printers, classroom audio systems, tablets, etc.
  • Package and install various software applications including packaging and remote installation of software using Altiris and / or SCCM.
  • Install, maintain and support network hardware including basic switching devices.
  • Maintain district active directory.
  • Provide support for office machines, such as photocopiers, scanners, computers, printers, calculators, facsimile machines, voicemail systems, and telephones.
  • Communicate with customers, employees, students, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information, and address complaints.
  • Required to travel throughout district.

Education:

This position requires high school diploma or equivalent.



  • Microsoft Certification preferred.



Experience:



  • Three years of experience troubleshooting and supporting computer work stations and peripherals required.
  • One year experience supporting computer technology in a network environment required.


Knowledge:



  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, required.
  • Knowledge of advanced networking concepts such as Domains, Active Directory, basic switching, wireless networking and printing,
  • Knowledge of computer hardware including BIOS settings, required.
  • Knowledge of IP based tools such as PING, required.
  • Knowledge of packaging software concepts, required.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services, required.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, spreadsheets, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures, required.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar, required.
  • Knowledge of computer virtualization and concepts, preferred.



Abilities:



  • Ability to obtain HP and / or Dell repair certification as part of the job role, required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot a problem by following logical steps, required.
  • Ability to read and interpret district policies, guidelines, and government regulations, required.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in training classes, required.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, required.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form, required.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, be organized and work in a fast paced work environment, required.
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with teachers, community, students and staff, required.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to perform essential job duties, including but not limited to understanding and following safety instructions, responding appropriately to emergency situations, completing documentation, and interacting with English-speaking staff, students, community and supervisors, required.



Skills:



  • Word processing 40 wpm, required
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, required

Testing

Keyboarding, Basic Word processing programs, Basic Spreadsheet programs, Alpha Filing, Data Entry, Customer Service, Proofreading, and NetworkTech Assessment-Advanced Skills are required.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment various from quiet to loud. The work environment temperature various depending on location.
