Position Highlights |
The Department of Civil & Architectural Engineering & Mechanics seeks a Coordinator to help support the Science and Technology Policy Fellowship (STPF) program serving the Arizona Legislature under Dr. Kevin Lansey. The University of Arizona team is one of five teams selected in 2023 by the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) to plan new STPF programs within their states. The Arizona STPF program will provide legislators with direct access to nonpartisan counsel on the most critical issues facing the state today. The Coordinator will be instrumental in helping new Fellows gain unparalleled experience in science translation and the intersections of policymaking with science, industry, and public health.

Duties & Responsibilities |
- Compose, edit, and review materials for various audiences to support fundraising efforts and foster smooth communication between the STPF program and state legislators.
- Perform basic information finding research to support the Fellows and various stakeholders through the policymaking process.
- Coordinate and organize activities to promote the project to stakeholders, state legislators, university leadership, academics, and industry leaders.
- Assist in the facilitation of fellow placement and training, and participate in organizing the advisory program.
- Schedule and coordinate the advisory sessions.
- Compile agendas and other resources for members of the advisory program.
- Develop a tracking system for attendance and meeting notes.
- Maintain documentation on meeting outcomes and support follow-up.
- Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, assist with the administrative process hiring plan and onboarding for Fellows.
- Compile and maintain Fellows' position descriptions and Standard Operating Procedures.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Prior experience in fellowship programs.
- Experience in public speaking.
- Bachelor's degree.
