Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Cameron School of Business's Academic Advising and Career Success Center ( AACSC) provides academic advising, career coaching, and professional growth activities for business students as they plan and prepare for a successful business career. The Academic Advisor will advance the mission of the AACSC by empowering students to think critically about their future to reach sound decisions, provide informed guidance to help students achieve academic success, and equip students with advising tools and resources that support their academic goals.
Under the supervision of the Director of the Academic Advising & Career Success Center ( AACSC), the Academic Advisor is responsible for providing advising consultations and related programming and services for undergraduate students in the Cameron School of Business.

This position may require occasional night and weekend duties.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Student Affairs, or a closely related field with three years of progressive experience in academic advising, student support services, or a comparable area; or a Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Student Affairs, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience utilizing a range of software applications and educational technologies, including Microsoft Office Suite, learning management systems, and other technology-enhanced delivery platforms.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Master's degree with at least one year of advising or related experience working with students in a college setting.
  • Knowledge of best practices and theoretical foundations in the fields of advising, adult learning, and student development.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend to details with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to, and execution of, high-level customer service.
