Job Overview

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Lead is responsible for managing a team of NNPs in a clinical practice location and leading team members in providing direct patient care by demonstrating expert clinical knowledge; ensuring compliance with quality and safety initiatives and practices; and partnering with a multidisciplinary team in meeting the clinical needs of patients and families. The NNP Lead also provides leadership and management to the clinical practice location team members and is the point of contact for any birth place, SCN/NICU, or OB concerns related to neonates or the CHCO NNP Program. The NNP Lead will provide oversite of team member performance and collaborate with the team and clinical practice site on unit specific goals and initiatives, policy/procedure/guideline consultation/development, team member education. Finally, the NNP Lead serves as a point person for team scheduling, payroll, and onboarding/orientation of team members to their clinical practice location.
**In addition to this role, the Lead NNP will also fulfill the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner-NICU Job Description for all clinical time.

This position supports CommonSpirit sites in Westminster and Durango, Colorado. Applications of current CommonSpirit Envision APPs who support CommonSpirit NICU sites will be reviewed as a priority*

One Lead for the CommonSpirit sites will be selected; both qualified NNP and PA candidates will be considered for the one (1) lead position. *

    Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $140,287.01 to $210,430.52

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Reviews and maintains awareness of unit/department specific policies, procedures, and guidelines while ensuring consistency with evidence-based practice were applicable.
2. Leads team members in providing direct patient care by demonstrating expert clinical knowledge and promoting professional standards in daily work.
3. Provides oversight of schedules and assigning team members to patients.
4. Interprets and explains regulatory standards and hospital policies, procedures, and rules to employees and ensures compliance with applicable quality and safety initiatives and practices.
5. Ensures staffing resources are utilized appropriately and shifts resources to meet both patient and unit needs.
6. Partners with a multidisciplinary team in meeting the clinical needs of patients and families. Rounds with patients, families and team members to promote patient family experience and quality patient care.
7. Resolves operational and patient/family issues, making decisions that are inclusive of multiple perspectives and solves underlying problems.
8. Assists team members in achieving unit outcomes, performance and professional development standards; identifies opportunities for continual improvement.
9. Champions clinical practice and professional growth by working with the clinical practice site team to meet the educational needs of the unit/department.
10. Develops, coaches, and evaluates team members. Mentors team members in creating/evaluating projects focused on improving clinical practice.
11. Provides advice to Clinical Manager on decisions involving hiring, terminations, promotions, and disciplinary actions as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degrees
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
    • Master of Science, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
  • Experience
    • Three (3) years of experience in a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Role.
  • Licenses & Certifications
    • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) License
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
    • Neonatal Resus Program
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), optional
    • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Additional Requirements
    • BLS/CPR with at least six (6) months left before expiration.
    • Credentialing must be completed by the Medical Staff Office (MSO) within two (2) weeks of
      employment
    • Prescriptive Authority License
