Summary Job Description: Surgical Technologist II -OR Full Time I First Shift Operating Room I Lexington, KY $15,000 Sign on Bonus for qualified individuals. Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department. Description for Surgical Technologists:
- Essential duties: Draping, instrumentation, suture, and equipment.
- Ability to aseptically set up and keep mayo and back table organized throughout procedure.
- Correctly count and account for all required items prior to, during and following the procedure.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
- Accountability in checking instrumentation, equipment, and supplies prior to use in a procedure.
- Knowledgeable of specific uses of all equipment and supplies used for surgical procedures.
- Seeks out information and support for areas of knowledge deficit prior to use.
- Ability to plan, prepare and function in emergency situations.
- Room ready prior to time for scheduled case.
- Minimizes turnover by assisting and preparing for next case by obtaining instruments, equipment, and other necessary supplies.
- Is in OR room when patient is brought into the room.
- On call weekends, weeknights, and holidays by rotation.
Requirements for Surgical Technologists:
- Technical Diploma; Associate degree.
- Completion of a Surgical Technology program.
- National Certification CST Certified Surgical Technologist.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
