Application Window Open date: September 11, 2025 Next review date: Friday, Sep 26, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Thursday, Mar 11, 2027 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description Specialist- Johnson Lab The broad research interests of the lab are in understanding the molecular mechanisms through which new gene expression patterns evolve in yeasts, including fungal pathogens of humans. Applicant will conduct original research in microbial genetics, molecular biology, and biochemistry, involving, but not limited to, primer design, PCR, yeast and bacterial transformations, gene disruption, validation colony PCRs, plasmid construction, sequencing, RNA extraction and sequencing, quantitative real-time qPCR, and functional analysis of microbial deletion mutants; perform general lab maintenance of laboratory stocks of DNA, bacteria, and yeast strains; update relevant databases; send requested strains out, maintain equipment, coordinate regulatory compliance. Applicant is expected to independently design, troubleshoot, and interpret experiments. Applicant will Design and perform laboratory experiments as described above; present results to lab; provide feedback on other lab member's data. Perform routine lab equipment maintenance, sending out strains and reagents to other investigators; organizing and ordering lab supplies. Required Qualifications:
