Where we work

Udemy is a global company headquartered in San Francisco, with additional U.S. offices in Denver and Austin, and international hubs in Australia, India, Ireland, Mexico, and Turkiye. This is an in-office position, requiring three days a week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.

About your skills



  • Data Modeling and SQL: You have a strong understanding of data modeling concepts, including dimensional modeling and schema design, proficiency in SQL, and experience building sophisticated data models and pipelines.
  • Communication: You have strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Influencing: You develop relationships effectively up, down, and across the organization and are able to strategically use these relationships to help move your work forward. You scope a solution that will "get to yes" and also are capable of pushing back on disagreement if they will not provide the outcome needed for the team or the business.
  • Decision Making: You use critical thinking to follow a defined decision making process and consider multiple perspectives. Upon making a decision, you are clear in your communication and ensure everyone is aligned in execution.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of Python or programming languages and familiarity of modern data tools are a plus.



About this role

As a Senior Analytics Engineer at Udemy, you'll blend deep technical expertise with product leadership to deliver innovative, business-critical data products that fuel decision-making across the organization. You'll own the transformation, modeling, and definition of data products from pipeline inception to last-mile analytics, shaping the future of Udemy's data foundation. This highly-visible role partners across business, product, and engineering teams, supporting leaders with trusted analytics that drive Udemy's rapid growth.

This is a unique opportunity both to set strategy and to be hands-on-solving large, ambiguous problems, building scalable solutions, mentoring others, and championing a culture of quality data across the business.

What you'll be doing



  • Designing, developing, and maintaining robust data models, transforming raw data into valuable insights.
  • Building and maintaining scalable data pipelines using tools like dbt.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to understand data needs and business requirements.
  • Ensuring high data quality, reliability, and accuracy through regular monitoring and testing.
  • Writing clear documentation to empower business stakeholders.
  • Troubleshooting and debugging data issues to ensure seamless analytics capabilities.
  • Partnering with data analysts and data scientists to optimize the use of datasets.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvements in data workflows and processes.

Actual compensation for this role is based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, and specific work location due to differences in the cost of labor. In addition to a base salary, this role is also eligible for equity.
