The Department of Neurobiology and Behavior at Stony Brook University invites applications for three new tenure-track faculty positions to lead research programs in neuroscience and participate in the Department's educational mission. For the positions in the College of Arts and Sciences, one position is at the assistant professor level and one is at the associate/full professor level. There is also an open position for an assistant professor in the Renaissance School of Medicine.
Our Department is home to a diverse and collaborative group of basic and translational researchers. We seek exceptional and creative candidates with a PhD or MD/PhD, or foreign equivalent degree to establish and lead an innovative, laboratory-based research program. For all the positions, we expect candidates to have at least two years of postdoctoral research experience after their degree, and demonstrate strong academic credentials in a specific research field. For the associate/full professor position we expect a proven track record of securing funding. Teaching experience is also preferred for participation in the departmental educational mission and teaching assignments. Ideal candidates will supervise postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and undergraduate students in research, drawing on the broad range of expertise within our faculty for support and collaboration. We encourage applications from qualified researchers in any area of neuroscience research, including but not limited to molecular, biochemical, metabolic, genetic, synaptic physiology, pharmacology, and systems neuroscience. The successful candidates will join a large, inclusive and outstanding community of neuroscientists at Stony Brook University and will have the opportunity to actively participate in institutional strategic initiatives on aging, addiction and artificial intelligence (neuroAI).
New faculty will be actively mentored in our exceptionally collaborative and nurturing environment, which features highly productive research programs, state-of-the-art equipment, and outstanding core facilities. Stony Brook offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package. All departmental faculty are members of the Graduate Program in Neuroscience, and Medical Scientist Training Program and their lab will be housed in either the Life Sciences Building or the adjacent Centers for Molecular Medicine Building, commensurate with their interests and expertise.
