The Cyber Security/Network Administrator is a dual role IT professional responsible for maintaining the security, integrity, and functionality of an organization's network infrastructure. This position requires expertise in designing, implementing, and managing secure network architecture while proactively defending against cyber threats. The professional ensures the organization's IT assets, data, and communications are safeguarded while optimizing network performance and reliability. Key Responsibilities: Cyber Security Administration Duties:
- Security Policy Development & Implementation:
- Establish, enforce, and update cybersecurity policies, standards, and best practices to protect data and infrastructure.
- Conduct security awareness training for employees to mitigate risks like phishing and social engineering attacks.
- Threat Analysis & Risk Mitigation:
- Monitor and analyze security threats using SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tools.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify security gaps.
- Implement ZTNA
- Incident Response & Forensics:
- Develop and implement an incident response plan (IRP) for handling security breaches.
- Analyze security incidents, conduct forensic investigations, and create post-incident reports.
- Access Control & Identity Management:
- Manage user authentication and authorization processes using IAM (Identity and Access Management) tools.
- Implement multi-factor authentication (MFA) and least privilege access control policies.
- Compliance & Regulatory Adherence:
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001, NIST, PCI-DSS).
- Conduct security audits and work with auditors to assess risk exposure and security posture.
Network Engineering Duties:
- Network Design & Architecture:
- Design and implement LAN, WAN, VPN, and cloud-based network infrastructures.
- Optimize network performance, load balancing, and redundancy strategies to ensure uptime and efficiency.
- Network Security Implementation:
- Deploy and manage firewalls, secure routers, and network segmentation strategies.
- Configure Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) for secure remote access.
- Monitor for unauthorized access, packet anomalies, and DDoS attacks.
- System & Infrastructure Maintenance:
- Maintain network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, and servers).
- Perform software updates, patches, and firmware upgrades to mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Configure and manage cloud network environments.
- Troubleshooting & Technical Support:
- Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues, bottlenecks, and security breaches.
- Utilize network monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios) to track performance and security incidents.
- Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Planning:
- Implement backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure minimal downtime.
- Conduct network failover testing and business continuity drills.

- Firewalls & Security Solutions: Ubiquity, Check Point, SonicWall.
- Cloud Security & Virtualization: Azure, M365
- Scripting & Automation: Python, Bash, PowerShell for automating security/network tasks.
- Compliance & Frameworks: NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2.
