About The Role:

The Construction Materials Project Engineer role is hands-on, impactful, and fast-paced. You will play a critical role in managing and executing Construction Materials Testing (CMT) and Special Inspection projects. You'll be the link between project execution and client satisfaction, ensuring quality and compliance while mentoring technical staff and leading field operations.




  • Lead Projects: Manage CMT and Special Inspection projects including coordination, execution, and client communication.



  • Develop Proposals: Review and generate cost estimates and proposals that align with project specifications and codes (including IBC).



  • Mentor & Supervise: Provide guidance and leadership to technicians and junior engineers while ensuring compliance with plans and specifications.



  • Manage Documentation: Use Metafield and other systems to manage project records and report testing results.



  • Represent S&ME: Participate in professional organizations and build relationships in the engineering and construction community (e.g., ASCE, AGC, ACEC).

About You:


  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or a similar Engineering field



  • You have a minimum of 6 years of experience in construction materials testing and inspections



  • You have a Professional Engineer (PE) license



  • You have strong skills in math, verbal, and written communication in English



  • You have a track record of success in technical and business writing



  • (Plus: Knowledge of local codes, field data systems, or experience with Metafield is a bonus)
