The Strategic Communications and Marketing Department at WVU Potomac State College (Keyser) is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Director, About the Opportunity: Under the direction of the Director, the Assistant Director manages content-strategy and development and leads the marketing and communications efforts within the Strategic Communications and Marketing Department. What You'll Do:
- Develop and execute goals, objectives, strategies and plans related to integrated marketing communications and event/customer experience.
- Identify best practices and implement change management strategies related to communications and customer experience for campus.
- Provide oversight and support of campus crisis communications plans and serve as a key communications support during crisis and emergency incidents.
- Provide leadership oversight for integrated marketing and communication initiatives to effectively recruit prospective and retain current students and lead, develop and support the marketing/communications team
- Lead and supervise Special Events Coordinator
- Provide media relations training, support and expertise as needed.
- Provide strategic media relations counsel and preparation to campus leadership regarding interviews and potential interview opportunities.
- Collaborate with WVU System colleagues on marketing and outreach strategies to maximize resources, expertise, support and impact.
- Provide editorial support of key internal/external print and electronic publications and collaborate with creative team members on strategy and development as well as meeting in-hand dates.
- Plan and submit production schedules, support internal and external article contributors and reviewers, coordinate with SM&C team on deliverables.
- Work cooperatively and maintain relationships with technical staff, program administrators, and others across campus.
- Write and edit media advisories and releases.
- Collaborate and cultivate relationships with SM&C staff from all University campuses.
- Develop advertising scripts and copy related to advertising/marketing campaigns.
- Produce, prepare and distribute PSC-ENews for weekly distribution and other internal messaging documents as needed.
- Assist with the development of speeches, responses, statements, etc. for campus officials for internal and external use.
- Write, review, proofread, edit and lead the production and publication of marketing materials; provide general editorial support.
- Manage deadline schedules according to needs and priorities.
- Collaborate with Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing to effectively manage the advertising and marketing budget.
- Develop story or content ideas, considering reader or audience appeal
- Assign topics and stories; provide coaching and support to those providing content submission as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in marketing or related field required; Master's Degree preferred
- A minimum of five (5) years Marketing and Communications
- Experience in higher education, preferred
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated excellence in marketing goal development, tracking and analytics
- Demonstrated experience in developing strong customer relationships
- Experience in developing and executing multichannel communications and marketing plans
- Experience in clearly articulating (written and verbal) strategies and plans to achieve goals
- Experience in managing multiple projects with competing priorities
- Self-starter and can lead independently and proactively
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving and high attention to details
- Ability to keep abreast of changing technology as it impacts marketing and make necessary changes
