The counselor provides a range of services to help the university community meet the psychological, social, educational, and developmental needs of Alfred University students. Responsibilities include: a variety of clinical services; crisis response; consultation; outreach; training; programming; committee participation.

Rate/Salary:Non-Licensed: $27.98-$29.56; Licensed: $30.78-$32.55 - 10-Month Position

Essential Functions:
  • Clinical service to students: individual, couples, and group counseling; intake assessments; triage; referrals
  • Consultation: faculty, sta, administration, parents, student organizations, community
  • Crisis Response: daytime walk-in coverage; participation in after-hours on-call rotation
  • Outreach to students and student groups
  • Programming: topical information presented to the campus community in various settings
  • Training: professional sta, student sta, faculty
  • Maintain thorough and timely clinical documentation
  • Serve on college-wide committees and support department-wide initiatives
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Supports and assists in creating intersections for faculty, sta and students that will assist in transforming people's lives
  • Supports and assists in creating an evolving culture of mentoring and rich engagement opportunities for faculty, sta, and students
  • Maintains a commitment to inclusion and a high degree of cultural competence and respect for a wide range of identities and experiences, therefore welcoming and supporting all faculty, sta and students and expanding access to the AU experience
  • Maintains a safe working environment within and around their facilities
  • Participates in all required assigned training, including safety training and will comply with safety rules, regulations, and protocols
  • Eective written and oral communication skills
  • Contributes to the overall success of the University by performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications-Education & Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Formal Education:
    • Master's Degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or Clinical Social Work
  • Experience:
    • At least one year experience as a mental health clinician
  • Additional Knowledge & Skills:
    • Clinical experience working in a college counseling center is preferred
Essential Functions:
With or without reasonable accommodations the incumbent must be able to read and write and speak the English language at a college level, be capable of performing sometimes complex mathematical calculations, statistical calculations, and other higher mathematical operations, must be able to communicate with all levels of the institution in written and spoken form. The individual must be able to work independently and be proactive. The ability to maintain regular and prompt attendance is essential to the successful performance of this position.
