The Hilton Columbus/Polaris is currently seeking a Director of People and Culture/Human Resources for our 254 Room AAA Four Diamond property with over 15,000 square feet of meeting/event space.

The Director of People and Culture directs and ensures the efficient administration and management of the Human Resources function to include recruiting, training, wage/benefit administration, compliance with statutory requirements and the execution of associates relations activities, in order to provide each department with the personnel, guidance, and support necessary to achieve their guest service and business objectives. This role is also responsible for processing payroll for the property.

Here is what you will be doing each day:

Leadership & Strategy:



  • Drive associate engagement and retention strategies aligned with Crescent/Brand Culture and values.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the General Manager and Executive Committee.
  • Lead property efforts in talent planning succession and workforce strategy.


Talent Management:



  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract top hospitality talent for leadership and hourly positions across all departments, as needed.
  • Oversee full cycle recruitment and selections for all hotel open roles.


Associate Relations & Engagement:



  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment.
  • Serve as a credible, visible and trusted advisor to managers and associates on P&C matters.
  • Timely address and resolve associate concerns, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Organize associate engagement and recognition programs in alignment with Crescent's associate recognition and communication initiatives.
  • Lead the Associate Engagement Survey process and action planning.


Training & Development:



  • Facilitate training programs to enhance associate job skills and guest service focus and delivery.
  • Oversee leadership development and succession planning efforts.
  • Ensure timely and comprehensive compliance training all associates.


Performance Management & Development:



  • Partner with hotel department leaders to create and develop plans for high potential associates.
  • Lead the performance review process and ensure all associates receive meaningful and timely feedback.


Compensation & Benefits:



  • Manage and process payroll in collaboration with Finance to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
  • Assist associates with requests for FMLA & personal LOA paperwork and coordinates the collection of insurance premium payments.
  • Monitor industry trends to ensure competitive compensation structures.


Compliance & Risk Management:



  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
  • Maintain up-to-date associate records and P&C documentation.
  • Lead workplace investigations and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Oversee workplace safety programs and support risk mitigation strategies.
  • Manage all labor relations activities and ensure compliance of negotiated union contract(s). Respond to all grievances in writing, negotiate settlements and act as the hotel representative at all arbitrations.


Required Skills/Abilities:



  • Three to Five years' minimum Hotel Human Resources/People & Culture Director/Management experience required.
  • Previous Hilton experience is highly desired.
  • Proven experience in federal/state compliance, training facilitation, associate relations, recognition, coaching/counseling, problem resolution and creating an issue-free workplace.
  • Demonstrated successfully driving and maintaining high employee engagement.
  • Fluency in English language (reading, writing, and speaking) is essential.
