Background Information:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting-edge cloud-based integration, automated testing and data analysis for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking an Accounting Associate to be based in our Arlington, VA office.Leveraging advanced software automation, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and AI-driven capabilities, IDT accelerates capability development, enhances operational readiness, and reduces lifecycle costs for the Department of Defense. The company is dedicated to transforming defense systems through innovation, efficiency, and mission-critical results.
Overview:
This position is responsible for managing the company's Accounts Payable function with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The role ensures timely processing of vendor invoices and payments in Deltek Costpoint, adherence to FAR/DFARS and internal policies, and maintenance of strong financial controls. In addition to supporting payment operations, the position collaborates across departments, assists with timesheet and expense submissions, contributes to billing and month-end close activities, and provides responsive support to both internal stakeholders and external vendors. Overall, this role is key to maintaining the integrity of financial transactions and supporting the company's operational and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Process Accounts Payable transactions in Deltek Costpoint, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
  • Review and verify vendor invoices, ensuring proper approvals, coding, and compliance with FAR/DFARS requirements.
  • Prepare weekly payment runs, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers.
  • Maintain accurate AP records, including vendor files and payment history.
  • Reconcile vendor statements, research and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Monitor and track AP aging, ensuring timely payment to vendors.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Contracts, and other departments to resolve payment-related issues.
  • Support month-end close activities, including accruals and account reconciliations.
  • Assist employees with timesheet and expense submissions in Deltek Time and Expense.
  • Maintain transaction accuracy to ensure strong internal financial controls.
  • Assist billing on a semi-monthly basis utilizing Deltek and WAWF.
  • Assist with audit requests and maintain strong internal controls over AP processes.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders regarding payment inquiries.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent full-time professional work experience
Preferred Skills:
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with FAR/DFARS regulations and government contracting compliance requirements.
  • 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience, preferably in a government contracting or DoD environment.
  • Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint.
