Pavion and our family of companies are seeking a talented and motivated Project Engineer to join our integration business unit.

The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the deployment and final delivery of integrated audiovisual systems after the sales process is complete. This includes technical validation, documentation, field engineering support, troubleshooting, and coordination with project management and installation teams. The role ensures that installed systems meet design specifications, perform reliably, and satisfy client requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
Project Handoff & Technical Review


  • Review project scope of work (SOW), drawings, equipment lists, and engineering packages after job award.
  • Validate designs for constructability, system compatibility, and performance expectations.


Field Engineering & Implementation Support


  • Assist installation teams with wiring standards, terminations, and equipment placement.
  • Configure, test, and troubleshoot AV system components including video displays, audio DSPs, networked AV gear, and control systems.


Commissioning & Testing


  • Perform system commissioning including signal flow checks, device addressing, firmware updates, and calibration.
  • Identify and resolve issues with signal quality, control logic, or system integration.


Documentation & Reporting


  • Create or update as-built documentation, rack elevations, and cable schedules.
  • Generate punch lists, test reports, and closeout documentation as needed.


Client & Project Coordination


  • Provide technical support during client walkthroughs, trainings, or user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Communicate with project managers, programmers, and other engineers to ensure timelines and expectations are met.


Post-Install Support


  • Troubleshoot post-install issues or support service teams with escalated tickets.
  • Recommend solutions or design changes based on field discoveries.


Basic Qualifications:


  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or related field (preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in AV systems installation, field engineering, or commissioning
  • Strong knowledge of AV signal types (HDMI, HDBaseT, SDI, etc.) and signal flow
  • Experience with AV control systems (Crestron, Extron, AMX), audio DSPs (Biamp, QSC, BSS), and video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
  • Understanding of IP networking as it relates to AV (VLANs, IP addressing, PoE)
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset
  • Willingness to travel to job sites as needed


Preferred Qualifications:


  • AVIXA CTS or CTS-I
  • Crestron DMC-E, Biamp Tesira, or QSC Level 1 certifications (a plus)
  • OSHA 10/30 or other site safety training (as applicable)
