JOB SUMMARY:

The Executive Director, Business Systems is a senior IT leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategy, delivery, and lifecycle management of enterprise business applications across BioCryst. This individual will lead a team of IT professionals supporting systems that enable core business functions including Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, Quality, Clinical, Regulatory, and Pharmacovigilance. The role ensures that systems are secure, compliant, scalable, and aligned with BioCryst's strategic objectives. #LI-REMOTE

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Lead the Business Systems team in the support, enhancement, and governance of enterprise applications across G&A and R&D functions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between IT and business stakeholders to ensure systems meet evolving operational and compliance needs.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, system roadmaps, and project delivery for platforms such as ERP, HRIS, QMS, eTMF, CTMS, and safety systems.
  • Ensure systems are validated and compliant with applicable regulations (e.g., FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, SOX).
  • Collaborate with IT Compliance and Security to maintain audit readiness and data integrity across regulated systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement and digital transformation initiatives that enhance business efficiency and user experience.
  • Develop and manage budgets, resource plans, and performance metrics for the Business Systems function.
  • Foster a structured project management culture within the Business Systems Team.
  • Ensure business systems team is highly aligned with business initiatives and technology investments.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and service excellence.



REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:



  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing enterprise business systems in a biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences environment.
  • Proven experience supporting cross-functional systems in Finance, HR, Legal, Quality, Clinical, Regulatory, and Safety.
  • Strong understanding of system validation, GxP compliance, and data privacy regulations.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams, managing vendors, and delivering complex IT projects.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills.
