Job Summary:
The Clinical Practice Manager delivers clinical and operational leadership for the efficient and cost-effective operation of a physician practice(s). This role ensures that the practice(s) deliver exceptional patient care and customer service while meeting regulatory and operational standards. The Clinical Practice Manager will partner with physicians and senior management to manage day-to-day operations effectively and efficiently. The incumbent in this position will support the mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives of Mary Washington Healthcare.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Oversees the delivery of quality care in clinical settings, ensuring patient care is timely, cost-effective and compliant.
- Manages the daily operations of the physician practice(s), ensuring established policies and procedures are consistently followed and the needs of physicians and patients are consistently met.
- Manages the integration of clinical outcomes and daily operations of the assigned department or clinic.
- Facilitates the smooth integration of new physicians into practice, working with other departments and agencies as required; coordinates activities related to physician recruitment and credentialing.
- Oversees recruitment and termination processes to ensure the practice(s) are appropriately staffed with the appropriate number of well-performing Associates.
- Provides coaching, counseling, mentoring as appropriate and initiates the disciplinary action process as required.
- Ensures initial and ongoing Associates competency through targeted education. Utilizes the performance improvement process to identify opportunities for improving clinical outcomes, service operations and standards.
- Fosters a collaborative learning environment by providing regular training on clinical procedures, patient care best practices, and safety protocols.
- Proactively identifies and resolves treatment-related issues and management issues including conflict resolution.
- Investigates and responds to all verbal and written patient complaints with professionalism and care.
- Leads multidisciplinary team meetings to share information and assist with patient management, while actively participating in organizational management, staff, and administrative meetings.
- Serves as a key partner in the preparation of the practice(s) annual budget, proactively identifying areas for cost savings and areas of continuous improvement. Prepares cost justification for any requested additions to staff.
- Coordinates the purchase of supplies and equipment, working within the established budgetary guidelines and obtaining required approval for expenditures as appropriate.
- Monitors and supports the physical well-being of patients, accurately documenting services and diagnoses to ensure proper billing and compliance.
- Conducts regular meetings with practice physicians to review billing, financial data, and to discuss operational issues.
- Participates in regulatory preparedness, to include but not limited to The Joint Commission.
- Maintains professional competencies by attending education programs.
- Provides clinical support as needed to maintain operational efficiency.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of VA or acceptable state required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), required.
- A minimum of 2 (two) years of management/supervisory experience in a healthcare setting (e.g., Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse or similar leadership role) required.
- A minimum of 3 (three) years of clinical nursing experience required.
- Prior clinical management experience, particularly in physician practice management, preferred.
- Experience communicating and partnering with Medical Staff and Community Providers, preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolutions skills.
- Proven ability to lead both clinical and administrative and clinical operations with a focus on patient-centered care.
