Job Description

Shipping and Receiving Supervisor Position Summary

As the Shipping Receiving Supervisor, you'll lead, coach, and coordinate day-to-day activities across receiving, put-away, kitting, inventory control, and shipping. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you'll ensure accurate, timely transactions in our SyteLine ERP system, maintain inventory integrity, optimize workflow, and drive continuous improvement. You'll also step in hands-on across each area as needed to keep operations running smoothly.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supervise, train, and schedule a small team
  • Assign and monitor workload to meet production needs, kit-up requests, and inventory control requirements.
  • Oversee inbound receipt of small packages (UPS, FedEx) and LTL freight (SAIA, Old Dominion, etc.), ensuring accurate, timely data entry in SyteLine for receipts, transfers, returns to stock (RTS), and kitting completions.
  • Operate and oversee safe forklift usage for pallet moves, heavy loads, and put-away operations.
  • Manage stockroom functions: receive products from inspection and in-house manufacturing; assign storage locations; protect assets; verify system counts for locations and quantities.
  • Monitor and drive cycle count accuracy; reconcile variances and lead root-cause investigations. Coordinate annual full physical inventory.
  • Coordinate timely movement of materials for outside processing, ensuring proper documentation, packaging, and return tracking.
  • Supervise shipping activities: package products for small-package and LTL freight; prepare paperwork; stage for quality review; enter shipment data into customer portals and SyteLine; handle export documentation for international shipments.
  • Verify daily packing slip counts; collaborate with Finance to finalize invoicing data. Support weekend coverage during peak or month-end shipments.
  • Coordinate with Buyers, Program Management, and Engineering to resolve material shortages and expedite kitting for Production schedules.
  • Uphold warehouse safety practices, 6S standards, and compliance with all procedures and US export controls.
  • Identify and address layout constraints to improve space utilization, material flow, and safety in warehouse and stockroom areas.
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvements that reduce delays, improve accuracy, and increase throughput.
  • Participate in production readiness meetings, materials review boards, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on warehouse optimization.
  • Document and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions; support training of new hires and existing staff.
Required Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of warehouse or logistics experience, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Proficiency with SyteLine ERP or comparable WMS/ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle).
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, receiving practices, cycle counting, and warehouse safety.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Valid forklift certification or ability to become certified; demonstrated safe operation.
  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and people-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example and foster a culture of accountability and teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field.
  • Experience with aerospace or defense subcontracting.
  • Prior exposure to exporting procedures and international shipping documentation.
  • Lean, 6S, or continuous improvement certification.
Working Conditions & Expectations

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement shadowing sessions and real-time dashboards, enhancing visibility into key metrics. Develop and maintain a robust SOP playbook to preserve institutional knowledge. Conduct regular layout reviews to ensure the facility scales efficiently with increasing volume.
