About Apprenticeships:

Apprenticeships combine classroom and hands-on training with on-the-job experience. They start in the $40,000/year range and offer benefits that may include health insurance, pension contributions, training, and vacation funds. Key Responsibilities:



  • Blueprint reading: Learning to interpret blueprints and construction drawings to understand project plans.
  • Tool usage: Properly handling and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools used in carpentry.
  • Material handling: Moving and organizing wood materials on the job site.
  • Basic construction tasks: Installing basic structures like framing, door and window frames, flooring, and trim under supervision.
  • Safety compliance: Following established safety procedures and wearing necessary protective gear.
  • Cleaning and maintenance: Keeping the work area clean and organized.
  • On-the-job training: Actively learning from a journeyman carpenter through observation and hands-on experience.
  • Classroom instruction: Attending related carpentry training courses to gain theoretical knowledge.


Skills & Qualifications:



  • Basic math skills for accurate measurements
  • Physical strength and stamina for demanding work
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Willingness to learn and ask questions
  • High school diploma or equivalent
