Job Summary

The College and Career Center (CACC) Advisors primary purpose is to provide and coordinate college and career development services to students, ensuring that all secondary school students have means, opportunity, and preparation to access post-secondary education, ranging from two- or four-year colleges, apprenticeships, certification programs, military, etc. to be successful in the workplace.

Salary Range: $57,773.45 - $80,138.45 (works 260 days or 12 month)

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
    Preferred Qualifications:
    Master's Degree in School Counseling, Education or related field.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with students on college and career readiness in a school, community program, pre-college program, counseling setting, or other college and career setting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of college and career readiness preparation and access.
  • Proficient in the use of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make effective, professional presentations and trainings, and grant applications
  • Proficient in the use of databases and/or Excel files with the ability to monitor data generate reports.
  • Possess strong leadership and collaborative skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist students and families in completing postsecondary enrollment steps including college applications, college essays, FAFSAs, scholarships applications and other.
  • Collaborate with School Counselors and other school staff to support the college-going and career readiness culture and meet set college and career goals within the school(s).
  • Create a college-going and career readiness culture within center.
  • Collect and maintain data, compile statistics, keep records, and prepare required reports relative to the centers operation and support of students.
  • Organize and maintain effective communication between partnering agencies, community members, school, and district staff.
  • Promote career awareness, exploration, and planning, including supporting students in Youth Apprenticeships and Internship processes.
  • Support students accessing post-secondary institutions and career options, including scheduling college visits.
  • Support students securing financial support through scholarships and financial aid.
  • Conduct outreach college and career readiness events in the community.
  • Attend required staff and district meetings.
  • Monitor and support equitable access and participation of different student sub-groups.
  • Independently manage multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines.
  • Promote the integration of career research and work-based learning opportunities into academic courses.
  • Promote the use of technology for career planning and research.
  • Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
