Job Summary

The Department of Career & Technical Education is looking for an Intership Planning Assistant.

The Internship Planning Assistant provides support for the successful implementation, follow-up, data collection, tracking and reporting of high school students internships and other career-based learning experiences.

Salary Range: $57,773.45 - $80,138.45 (works 260 days or 12 month)

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Experience creating and providing professional presentations and/or training.
  • Proficient in the use of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google web-based applications.
  • Proficiency in monitoring data, keeping accurate records, and preparing data reports.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make effective, professional presentations and trainings for school staff, students and business partners.
  • Proficient in the use of databases and/or Excel files with the ability to monitor data and generate reports.
  • Possess strong leadership, collaborative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Experience using career development software (Xello).
  • Experience with web site maintenance.
  • Experience with grant writing, monitoring and reporting.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Working knowledge of career readiness preparation, including resume reviews/assistance and mock interviews.
  • Provide overall support for, and work collaboratively with, the Internship Coordinator.
  • Assist with overall internship process implementation, including student applications, internship course approval, and employer evaluations of student interns.
  • Disseminate and collect student and employer surveys, compile data, and report on results.
  • Assist in building relationships with local businesses and community members.
  • Maintain effective communication between business/community partners, school, and district staff.
  • Assist with getting business partner/volunteer background checks processed.
  • Enter and maintain contact information and data in business partner/employer database.
  • Monitor and report on new and existing business and community partnership engagement.
  • Maintain the MPS student job board and report on activity.
  • Prepare and submit the quarterly Internship and Youth Apprenticeship report.
  • Create and disseminate marketing materials, newsletters, social media, and other partner communications for business/employer recruitment and information.
  • Create meeting invites, coordinate event/workshop registrations and reminders.
  • Assist with maintenance of and resource additions to the Work Based Learning Google Shared Drive for school staff.
  • Assist with school-based Career Champion monthly meetings to disseminate important information about internships and other career-based learning opportunities and events.
  • Assist with the annual work-readiness conference, two annual job fairs, and other events related to work-based learning.
  • Provide support to schools in meeting internship and career-based learning related goals. Track and report progress toward student completion of internships and career-based learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with school staff and across district departments.
  • Promote career awareness, exploration, and planning.
  • Strong written and oral communication/presentation skills.
  • Attend required staff, district, and partner meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Actively support the MPS Strategic Plan.
