Custodian

• Operate vacuum cleaners, auto scrubbers, carpet extractors, sweepers, burnishing machines, side-by-side low speed machines, weighted stone machines, wet/dry vacuums, air movers, and Kaivav bathroom cleaning machines.
• Keep equipment in good working order. Immediately reports defective equipment to the supervisor.
• Clean all glass using proper cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Clean and polish lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, metal surfaces, and trim using proper cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators and elevator tracks, stairways, and locker rooms and other campus areas using correct techniques and chemicals.
• Empty trash receptacles daily, including feminine hygiene disposal containers, making sure that the container is clean and a new liner is provided.
• Sweep, dust mop, damp mop, scrub/strip and wax all hard floors, steps and stairways using proper chemicals and equipment.
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies using proper chemicals and equipment.
• Dust all hard surfaces, furniture, and equipment. Polishes metalwork.
• Wash walls, ceiling, and woodwork. Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
• Clean chalkboards, erasers, and eraser trays using proper equipment
• Empty wastebaskets. Place all recycling items in proper containers.
• Transport trash and waste to the disposal area.
• Replenish bathroom supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, and hand soap as needed.
• Clean custodian closet. Empties vacuum cleaner or changes bag between half and three-quarters full, changes belt as needed.
• Move furniture and other items within a building, as directed, to ensure proper cleaning. Sets up tables and chairs in the auditorium or hall.
• Must attend training and development classes and/or sessions as directed by Custodial Management.
• Maintain levels of attendance, punctuality, and appearance as required by departmental standards.

• This position is considered Essential Personnel and must be available during emergency situations when required. Essential personnel are required to be available Snow Removal, Setups for Graduation, Alumni Weekend, Trash removal, etc.
• Must be able to work a variety of shifts including weekends.
• Must have high school education or GED, up to one month related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
