POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a high-impact, high-visibility, growth, and profit driving leadership role within Heil. Product Management is focused on product portfolio management with the intent of maximizing market share and profitability of products over the complete life cycle of the product (from concept/ideation to retirement/pruning of mature products).

The Product Manager FEL, with leadership oversight, sets the product strategy, creates the product roadmap, and working with cross functional teams, drives execution of the product for achieving revenue and profit targets. A Product Manager is expected to be able to plan and coordinate effectively with all business function to execute and maximize the life cycle of products.

Key activities of Product Managers may include customer value-proposition development and effective customer communication of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) benefits, sales training and materials, new product innovation pipeline oversight, brand management, promotional publications oversight, technical publications and industry regulatory compliance coordination, identification and implementation oversight of cost reduction priorities, quarterly and annual sales/margin forecasting, prototype and product demonstration support, market/competitor/vendor analysis/response, financial analysis, and basic operations project coordination.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • In conjunction with field sales organization, visit major end-user customers to promote company/customer relationships and gather Voice of Customer (VOC) input regarding customer's pain points.
  • Understand opportunity pools, assess competition, translate VOC's, evaluate technology and AI/ML advancements in conjunction with engineering to identify portfolio gaps.
  • Utilize the Innovation Process to communicate, create and manage the product strategy, roadmap, and execution of products for digitally enabled Refuse Collection Vehicles (RCV's).
  • Develop product specific digital requirements to support ESG Connected CollectionsTM strategy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to launch new products, features and enhancements on time and within budget achieving revenue and profit commitments.
  • Analyze markets and competitors to identify and respond to major industry trends and understand customer needs.
  • Provide product support, documentation, and ensure effectiveness of product materials.
  • Capture, analyze, and understand product utilization and define metrics for understanding deficiencies.
  • Accompany Regional Managers, dealers, and end-users to develop sales tools, promote products, identify opportunities/threats and gain a deep understanding of the market and unmet customer needs.
  • Participate in relevant trade/technical organizations to promote practices and specifications of benefit to Environmental Solutions Group.
  • Maintain knowledge of technologies that could have application in existing and future product offerings.
  • Maintain close relationships with chassis, and equipment manufacturers to keep abreast of changes in technology that impacts Heil Environmental.
  • Maintain regular contact with operations, service, and sales teams to effectively manage product and service improvement processes.
  • Partner with sales, operations and engineering to scope and present New Business Opportunities to leadership team.
  • Identify key capability or process gaps in current organization to develop, propose process improvements to adhere to federal, state and local laws, regulations and best practices.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business and 5 years' experience OR Master's degree plus 2 years

as Product Specialist, Product Manager, and/or Technical Sales.

  • RCV industry experience a huge plus.
  • Experience in connected vehicles is a plus.
  • New product development process experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with senior internal and external customers as well as end-users of related products and services.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Experience and demonstrated ability with Microsoft Access and Project and/or CAD software is also a plus.
  • Requires strong analytical and technical abilities.
  • Strong leadership and control of work processes from beginning to end is necessary. The job demands fast, but carefully thought-out results.
  • Must be able to handle multiple wide range tasks.
  • The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams as well as lead team projects.
  • Team Lead for Environmental, Social, and Governance initiatives and projects.
  • Works under limited supervision. Predominantly handles matters on own initiative, but communicates routinely with cross-functional teams, superiors and management.
  • Must be a self-starter and exercise substantial degree of judgment. High standards, high quality work is of utmost importance. Decisions must be strategic and well thought out and analyzed. Intellectual curiosity is a must to succeed at this position.
  • Minimal travel is required for this position which is less than 30%.
