Scotty's Contracting and Stone is currently looking for a Paving Foreman to join our growing team! This position will work in our Paving Division throughout Elizabethtown and surrounding areas.



Within this role, the successful candidate should obtain all relevant project specifications, determine the most appropriate building materials, and secure favorable prices on all resources. They should also inspect trends in construction to determine whether estimates are both reasonable and competitive.

Position Summary: The Paving Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of paving crews on construction projects. This role ensures that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and company standards. The Paving Foreman will supervise crew members, manage equipment and materials, and serve as the primary on-site point of contact for project managers and clients.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of paving crew members, including laborers, operators, and truck drivers.
  • Plan and organize daily work schedules, assign tasks, and monitor progress to ensure timely project completion.
  • Inspect work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and clients regarding project status, issues, and requirements.
  • Train and mentor crew members on proper paving techniques, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
  • Monitor and manage the use of materials, tools, and equipment to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and crew attendance.
  • Identify and resolve on-site issues or conflicts promptly to avoid project delays.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.


Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in construction or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in asphalt paving or road construction, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of paving equipment, materials, and construction methods.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as required to inspect work and operate equipment.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are necessary to operate tools and machinery safely.
  • Good vision and hearing to identify hazards and communicate effectively on a noisy job site.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and high-visibility clothing.


Work Environment:



  • Work is performed primarily outdoors on active construction sites.
  • Exposure to moving vehicles, heavy machinery, loud noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
