Position Summary:

The Development Technician plays a crucial role in various laboratory tasks, including performing tests according to established standards and sample instructions, providing support as needed, and performing equipment calibration and verification. Key responsibilities include sample preparation and distribution for testing, operating, and maintaining lab equipment, and processing samples in the LIMS. The technician's collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders is instrumental in facilitating root-cause problem-solving and ensuring socially responsible project management, all while advancing Interface's mission and values.

Educational requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency is required.
  • Technical or bachelor's degree preferred.

Skills and experience:

  • Laboratory background in a textile field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory that has accreditation to ISO/IEC standard guidelines, i.e., NVLAP, A2LA, is preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience and knowledge of Quality Assurance requirements preferred.
  • Knowledge of ASTM, ISO, AATCC, and other test standards preferred.
  • Must have good analytical and math skills, read rulers and gauges, perform math functions, and work with formulations described in test procedures.
  • Working knowledge of computer software and proficiency with MS Office products required
  • Experience creating electronic reports, spreadsheets, graphs, etc.
  • Must have normal color perception and average or above-average shade discernment.
  • Must be confident in written or verbal explanations and observation of test materials.
  • Understand NVLAP requirements.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a member of a team.
  • Be attentive to details and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Adjust rapid changes in daily routine to meet stakeholder's requirements and priority deadlines.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform laboratory tests in compliance with ASTM, AATCC, ISO standards, and other written procedures.
  • Understand NVLAP requirements.
  • Comply with GSTC-TD-QP-001 Sample Request Life Cycle procedure.
  • Prepare samples for analysis.
  • Review outstanding requests for material samples to be submitted to LIMS.
  • Request testing quotes and ship materials for testing.
