BETTER TOGETHER .9 FTE/ 36 hours per week The Primary Care Lactation Consultant IBCLC is a licensed health care professional who provides expert support, education, and clinical guidance to breastfeeding families. This role helps to promote successful lactation by assessing infant feeding, addressing concerns, and creating individualized care plans. The Lactation Consultant works collaboratively with primary care teams to improve maternal-infant outcomes. The Lactation Consultant acts as an advocate for a breastfeeding families, and as a resource for other health professionals.The lactation consult commonly educates patients on pain while breastfeeding, low milk supply, poor weight gain in baby, challenging breastfeeding due to a medical condition of either mom or baby, returning to work while breastfeeding, compatibility of medications while breastfeeding, weaning, breastfeeding multiples, and many other medical conditions or concerns. Work is performed under the general direction, guidance, and supervision of the Clinical Health Education Manager. JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
