Staff Electrical Engineer-Contract to possible conversion

We are seeking an experienced Staff Electrical Engineer to lead the design of the hardware that powers our robotic device. In this role, you will collaborate closely with embedded and mechanical engineers to develop solutions for complex, real-world problems. As a key technical contributor, you will play a significant role in shaping the architecture and direction of our electrical systems. Prior experience in medical devices or other regulated industries is required.

Responsibilities:


  • Design electronic hardware for complex robotic systems.



  • Collaborate with the Mechanical team on PCBA physical layout.



  • Work with the Embedded team to support processing and sensing requirements.



  • Manage component selection, schematic capture, and board layout using Altium.



  • Develop and maintain assembly test equipment.



  • Perform board reliability assessments and failure diagnostics.



  • Conduct testing and documentation for robotic hardware systems.



  • Provide technical guidance to product and technology teams.



  • Define, manage, and document project goals, timelines, and deliverables.



  • Recommend and implement revisions to meet project needs.



  • Set the strategic technical direction for electrical system development.



  • Mentor junior engineers and foster professional growth.



  • Lead engineering teams to successful completion of project goals.




Qualifications:


  • 8+ years of experience in electronics design.



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.



  • Experience designing Electrical Medical Equipment (IEC 60601 standard).



  • Proficiency with Altium and product lifecycle management tools.



  • Experience with flex circuits, PCB technologies, and board layout.



  • Strong knowledge of communication interfaces including SPI, I2C, USB, MIPI, and Ethernet.



  • Experience designing inductive sensing systems.



  • Familiarity with high-speed sampling and routing, switching power supplies, BLDC motors, MOSFET drivers, and analog/digital conversion.



  • Expertise in design for test and creating test fixtures for manufacturing.



  • Knowledge of EMC, EMI, and ESD circuit hardening techniques.
