Loudoun County, Virginia's Department of Planning and Zoning is recruiting for a Temporary (6-months) Zoning Inspector to assist their Zoning Enforcement division. Assignments will include case management, basic inspections of issues relating to tall grass, proactive enforcement research and other inspections as assigned by supervisory staff.

The qualified candidate will conduct field inspections, manage cases from inception to resolution of violations while adhering to Loudoun County's Zoning Ordinance, and several Codified (local) ordinances. The successful candidate must be willing to work in various conditions including constructions sites, potentially unsafe structures, uneven terrain, and outdoors during inclement weather.

The ability to effectively communicate with the public and staff is essential in working towards the successful resolution of violations. This position requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to effectively manage case file information and documents in preparation for any necessary court action, and a willingness to work a flexible work schedule.

This temporary position is eligible for partial benefits offered by the County.

Hiring salary commensurate with experience.

Bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement, Planning, or a related field OR four (4) years of related work experience in enforcement for another jurisdiction; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of criminal, credit, and DMV background check.

Virginia Association of Zoning Officials' Certified Zoning Official (CZO), or Certified Zoning Administrator (CZA) certification preferred. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, which could require evenings and weekend inspections, depending on case needs.
