Job Description

Part of the IPG Health network, 90NORTH* is a software-based advisership that enables pharmaceutical, biotech and life science companies to tackle complex issues beyond traditional marketing communications and uncover innovative areas for competitive advantage and growth. The Sr. User Experience Architect at 90 North will lead and guide User Experience efforts in a strategic direction and oversee the entire user experience design process. They will be responsible for the development of user centric experiences based on the client's business objectives and strategic goals; ensuring user-based tasks are grounded in the over strategy and best practices.

In this role, the Sr. User Experience Architect develops relationships with different agency departments including Strategy, Art, Copy, Editorial, Account and Project Management. They can be involved in decision making, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring the user experience aligns with business goals and will play a key role in shaping the User Experience Strategy. This role requires mentoring junior level team members and plays a key role in shaping strategy. They must display critical and logical thinking. The Senior User Experience Architect is expected to be well versed in legal, medical, and regulatory pharma guidelines, as well as any client specific rules and brand guidelines.

This role requires the ability to navigate ambiguity, adapt quickly in a fast-paced, regulated environment, and iterate rapidly based on feedback, shifting priorities, or stakeholder needs.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop user centric experiences based on the client's business objectives and strategic goals.
  • Ensure user-based tasks are grounded in the over strategy and UX best practices.
  • Perform UX tasks in digital formats for assigned projects that focus on the end-user and the intended actions to take throughout their journey.
  • Advocate for the user, and how the digital product's architecture and the functionality appropriately meet those needs.
  • Able to evangelize the importance of empathizing with the experiences of the end user.
  • Designs for long-term scalability and measurable outcomes. Prioritizes features based on business impact, user value, and technical feasibility-ensuring design intent supports sustainable growth and system cohesion.

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Develop relationships with different agency departments including Strategy, Art, Copy, Editorial, Account and Project Management.
  • Communicates with team members regarding deadlines, revisions, quality control and new work.
  • Collaborate with the team in a productive manner.
  • Work with Product Design partners to ensure that the intended branding, campaign, and layout as well as UX architecture and functionality are aligned with the needs of the user with the guidance of the UX Lead.
  • Proactively approach supervisor with new ideas and suggestions for personal career growth and team dynamics.
  • Proactively asks clarifying and strategic questions to surface key business requirements and align early with cross-functional stakeholders, fostering better collaboration and solution accuracy.
  • Leads UX alignment across departments including Strategy, Copy, Art, and Technology. Guides project teams through UX strategy execution while ensuring all voices are heard and aligned with overarching product and brand goals.

Administration

  • Demonstrate a detail oriented and organized approach to daily responsibilities.
  • Identify and address inter-department situations involving process and/or communication breakdowns and escalate issues to Lead as needed.
  • Completes timesheets, expenses, and all other administrative duties accurately and on a timely basis.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree (preferred).

Areas of Concentration: Marketing, advertising, computer science, human- computer interaction, human factors, psychology, anthropology, graphic design, or related discipline

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

UX professional certification (preferred)

EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years' Experience: designing applications, interactive touchscreen experiences and websites.
  • Related Roles: UX Information Architect, UX Strategist, Technical Writer, Content Strategist, UI/ Developer, HCI, Visual Communications, UI/ Graphic Design, or related field preferred.
  • Agency, healthcare, and interactive design experience a plus.
  • Experience working within regulated industries, particularly in pharma, is highly preferred. Candidates should be familiar with legal, medical, and regulatory (LMR) review processes and demonstrate sensitivity to compliance in UX design decisions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Knowledge:

Software Level: Expert

  • Figma, Adobe XD and Sketch
  • Secondary: OmniGraffle, Axure
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)

User Experience Level: Proficient

  • UX processes, principles, trends, and UX architecture deliverables.
  • WCAG 2.1 AA Guidelines and the importance of ensuring website accessibility compliance and flagging areas of non-compliance.

UX Skills Level: Expert

  • Create and edit UX deliverables: wires, sitemaps, function specifications using Figma, Adobe XD and Sketch.
  • Leads sitemap Co-ops
  • Authority on all UX best practices and can reference the research to support all claims.
  • Collaborate with Copy to ensure good digital practices.
  • Creates work aligned with the brief.
  • Demonstrates the ability to move beyond research and discovery into actionable, strategic solution design. Connects user insights with business needs to produce purposeful wireframes, flows, and architectures grounded in measurable goals.

Ability Level: Proficient

  • Work collaboratively with Account, Strategy, Copy, Art, and Product Design partners.
  • Supervise and mentor Jr. UX on site maps and wireframes and advise on file set up best practices.
  • Act as a primary UX point-of-contact on a project.
  • Attend kickoffs and any scoping meetings. Provide feedback on Pre-Briefs, Briefs, Scopes, Timelines, Hours, Staffing - escalate when needed. Manage and resolve issues.
  • Raise concerns about deadline issues and unreasonable requests to supervisor and/or the IP depending on circumstances.

Salary:

$90,000 - $120,000 annually.
