Essential Job Duties |
The Department of Population Health and Pathobiology at North Carolina State University has an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated Postdoc (Doctoral-level Research Scholar) to join our ambitious team conducting research with an impact in the areas of infectious disease and environmental epidemiology. As a Postdoc, you will be given significant autonomy while benefiting from individual mentorship. Opportunities abound for a candidate interested in conducting timely research on rapidly evolving public health issues, with a focus on stakeholder engagement and translation and dissemination of research findings. Additionally, you will experience working within our highly collaborative Department which has a track record of successful federal funding and established multidisciplinary research collaborations in North Carolina, nationally, and globally. Other Work/Responsibilities |
Independently design epidemiological studies, perform data analyses and modeling activities, interpret results, and formulate conclusions
Conduct or supervise data collection and/or integration activities, as needed, using data from various sources (e.g., public health surveillance, human healthcare, animal health, environment) Prepare scientific publications independently and collaboratively
Contribute to grant proposal writing and/or develop new research ideas within the context of the lab's general focus areas and prepare related grant proposals
Help mentor graduate students in the lab |

Department Required Skills |
PhD or equivalent in epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, applied mathematics, biomathematics, ecology, environmental health, or related field
Strong quantitative skills in epidemiology, biostatistics, and/or mathematical or computational modeling |
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education |
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with a team |
