The High Voltage Battery Systems (HVBS) Assistant Chief Engineer (ACE) is the owner for their assigned STLA Large battery programs. In general, is responsible for defining, communicating, approving, and tracking adherence to battery and battery system level functional objectives, requirements, and technical deliverables per required timing. This role is also the battery team's primary technical Interface to Vehicle & Powertrain Integration, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Electrical Engineering Core, Electrification. The responsibilities of the ACE will include:
The candidate will address and present battery technical items for reviews in high level meetings as needed, own the approval of the battery/battery system technical requirements document, system testing and validation testing while leading a cross functional team and battery technical experts. The successful candidate will contribute to the product development technical reviews, evaluations, technical specification sign-offs and issue resolution, will instill accountability to priority actions and rapid turn of results for issues identified. Accountable for executing technical plans for simulation and testing for each phase of the program while supporting adherence to timing and cost objectives. Includes post-test inspection reviews and any detailed failure analysis, supports the assembly of evidence for validation sign off that all technical requirements have been met or have approved deviations ,Co-leads with the battery HW/SW Design Responsible Engineers and controls, actively participate in prototype build plans, bench and HIL testing plans, and manage/communicate issue resolution plans, attends design reviews ahead of ordering proto parts, drives action items/follow up for each design review and follow up on its closure. Will include manufacturing entities to ensure designs are robust to customer requirements, meet exact function, and can be manufactured/assembled without defect. Also includes leadership in continuous improvement initiatives, technical cost reductions, bulletins and supporting vehicle assembly plant launches. Leads coordination with Vehicle/Powertrain Team on vehicle program Packaging studies, provides support on supplier selection technical reviews and development. Reviews, approves & tracks the System Design Validation Plan & Report (DVP&R) and supports the development of the component DVP&Rs. Execute standardization plans and reuse of validated subcomponents.
