The US Payroll Manager is a newly established position and will have the unique opportunity to develop high performing payroll processes at the new US global headquarters in Troy, Michigan for a new public company to be spun out from Aptiv in 2026.

YOUR ROLE

  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, maintain compliance with payroll regulations and provide support to the Human Resources and Finance Departments.
  • Actively participate in the implementation of the ADP Workforce Now (WFN) platform and establish payroll operating process and procedures for the US legal entities
  • Oversee and manage the payroll process ensuring accurate calculation and deduction of taxes, benefits, garnishments, and other payroll deductions
  • Manage semi-monthly payroll for approximately 350 salaried employees across 11 states and monthly payroll for several expats and inpats
  • Implement and maintain payroll policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Maintain a strong internal control environment.
  • Manage and maintain the ADP WFN payroll system, including software updates, user access, and system configurations
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees, resolve discrepancies, and provide payroll related guidance
  • Reconcile payroll data with general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Enter and process stock-based compensation transactions
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for payroll audits and compliance purposes
  • Ensure compliance with payroll tax filing requirements, including quarterly and annual tax returns
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Finance, and other departments to support business needs

YOUR BACKGROUND

Key skills and competencies for succeeding in this role are:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with payroll management (for at least 300 employees)
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in multi-state payroll
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with ADP Workforce Now
  • Local resident of the metro Detroit area with ability to work on site daily
  • Experience with multi-company FEINs
  • Experience processing expat and inpat payrolls
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Familiarity with Workday HRIS
  • Microsoft Office Excel Proficiency
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Communicate effectively in writing and orally
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Legally able to work in the U.S. without requirement for any type of visa sponsorship/transfer now, or at any time in the future.
