Program-Level Software Systems Engineer

Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for a Program-Level Software Systems Engineer to support the PEO Missiles and Space, Integrated Fires Mission Command (IFMC) Project Office. This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

• Support the Army Air and Missile Defense (AMD) Mission Command Product Office with a focus on THAAD system integration with the Army Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS).
• Work directly with contractors, government civilians, and system operators to define software system-level features.
• Develop and document system behavior, performance requirements, and acceptance criteria for Major End Items (MEIs) and Computer Software Configuration Items (CSCIs).
• Guide software implementation through clearly defined system feature descriptions.
• Lead formal reviews, adjudicate stakeholder comments, and manage updates using a model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approach in an Agile workflow.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor's degree (or advanced degree) from an accredited college (ABET preferred) in engineering, science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of system engineering experience.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system
• Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS)
• Tactical command and control systems
• Tactical weapons or sensor systems
• Software or hardware systems integration
• Requirements decomposition
• MBSE tools and languages
• Must be a proactive team player with strong organizational and communication skills, capable of working in an Agile environment and engaging stakeholders across various disciplines.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

• System engineering experience in support of DoD programs, particularly in Army Air and Missile Defense domains.
• Hands-on experience using Cameo or MagicDraw with SysML and UAF frameworks.
• Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• SAFe Agile experience is a plus.
