Position Summary

The Senior Materials Handler plays a key role in the efficient and accurate handling of medical supplies and materials for The George Washington University Hospital. This position is responsible for receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment across multiple departments, while ensuring compliance with hospital protocols and supply chain standards.

Our Supply Chain Operations team ensures the continuous flow of essential supplies and equipment that support exceptional patient care at GW Hospital. We are committed to operational excellence, cost-effectiveness, and maintaining high standards of safety and reliability across all material handling processes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Receive and inspect incoming shipments; verify contents against purchase orders and delivery documentation
  • Organize and store materials in designated storage areas following hospital procedures
  • Accurately pick, pack, and deliver supplies and equipment to various hospital departments
  • Maintain real-time inventory data through barcode scanning and supply chain management systems
  • Monitor par levels and restock supplies as needed
  • Operate material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks or carts, safely and efficiently
  • Resolve delivery issues or discrepancies by communicating with buyers, vendors, or departments
  • Assist with training and guiding junior materials handlers
  • Ensure work areas and storage spaces are clean, orderly, and compliant with safety and infection control protocols

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years previous medical supplies management experience.
  • Driving record with no moving violations.
  • Prior driving delivery and/or medical transport experience of one year required preferred.
