Position Summary

The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) College of Business Administration invites applications for a non-tenure system faculty position for full-time Lecturer. The role will entail teaching primarily undergraduate courses in various business disciplines.

The primary teaching responsibility will involve multiple sections of a new required first-year course titled Business Decision-Making (BA111). The focus of the course is to build analytical skills with a particular emphasis on quantitative reasoning and basic data analysis through applications to business decisions in each of the key business disciplines.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Non-Tenure system faculty in the College of Business Administration are expected to do the following:
  • Teach courses to undergraduate and/or graduate students
  • Perform service roles relating to teaching in their department, college, and/or university
  • Contribute to the broader mission of the College through industry engagement, student activities, and professional development
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned

  • Minimum Qualifications
    Requirements for the rank of Lecturer include a master's degree in a business-related field, evidence of teaching capability, demonstrated efforts in service and in promoting diversity, equity and inclusion through teaching.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • A successful candidate will have experience of effective teaching at the college freshman or sophomore level.
    • A well-rounded knowledge of business as evidenced, e.g., by an MBA degree or industry experience, is desirable.
    • Experience working with diverse student populations, including first-generation students and underrepresented minority students, is preferred.
    • Experience teaching quantitative reasoning content and/or data analysis tools in various business contexts is preferred.
